50 Terminal Street, Charlestown

Last month, the 700+ musicians who rehearse at Charlestown Rehearsal Studios (CRS) were told they need to vacate by June so the owners can change the use from music rehearsal to self storage.

Read the feature on WBUR. Read the notice in the Charlestown Bridge.

You can help!  Send an email to the owners of CRS saying you are against artist/cultural displacement.

18 Palmer Street, Roxbury

The Coalition is helping the 2-dozen-plus artists/musicians at 18 Palmer Street, in Roxbury, known as the Berwick Building. We’re trying to delay their eviction, scheduled for mid-March.

You can help! Send an email to the owners saying you are against artist/cultural displacement and to delay eviction until new space is secured.

119 Braintree Street, Allston

The artists and creative small businesses of 119 Braintree Street are being displaced due to development. 119 Braintree Street has served as the home/hub of Allston Open Studios for years.

Read the feature on WBUR. See the BPDA's Development Site for this Property.

  • GOOD NEWS!
The Coalition has been advocating on their behalf and has secured resources for this creative community to relocate.

155 North Beacon Street, Brighton

The Coalition advocated with musicians to stay in Allston/Brighton.

  • MORE GOOD NEWS!
Property developer IQHQ has purchased a new property (290 North Beacon Street) that, should the city accept, will be gifted to Boston for affordable music rehearsal in perpetuity. During the build-out of the new location, the city will host a public process to identify an operator.

  • THE NEWS GETS BETTER!
The City of Boston announced that starting March 1, the musicians will be able to rehearse at 55 Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, thanks to the generosity of Center Court Mass Partners, who have arranged a 2-year use of the space. This “swing space” is operated by The Record Co., who have been furiously turning the former Beasley Media Group’s radio station home into 90 music rehearsal studios. The Coalition has partnered with the New England Musicians Relief Fund, who will help musicians moving from 155 North Beacon Street.
